🌊 July – Neptunalia:
Honoring Water in the Heat of Summer
July 15th 6:30pm to 7:00pm PST
In Roman tradition, Neptune was the god of freshwater; by 399 BCE, he had been identified with the Greek god Poseidon and became associated with the sea. Neptune’s festival, Neptunalia, took place during the height of summer—between the Summer Solstice and Fall Equinox—when water was scarcest. Its likely purpose was to honor and propitiate the freshwater deity.
Let us gather during Lammas, the midpoint of summer, to connect with the element of WATER.
Together, we will explore ancient Greek and Roman celebrations of water and summer, and engage in watercolor painting infused with intention. Through our creative practice and collective reflection, we will nurture environmental awareness and cultivate a deeper relationship with the seasonal rhythms.
Open to all!
