“Let us be the ancestors our descendants will thank.”
— Winona LaDuke – Anishinaabeg, Minnesota.
Fall is the time of letting go and release — the season of the Po, the “corporeal soul,” expression of sorrow, governed by Venus, the star of metal.
It mirrors the actions of both the lungs and the large intestine, the paired organs of the Metal element in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Just as trees shed their leaves, we must let go of what no longer serves us.
Time to let go of the dictatorship of time imposed by capitalism1. Thank you Dr Kiki to remind me about this, again!
Time to let go of people, habits, and thoughts that we no longer need to carry in our lives — because they do not align with the higher version of ourselves or our legacy to humanity.
I am shedding.
And this Fall newsletter is about shedding, letting go, and slowing down, through words and images.
A Season to Honor Our Ancestors
This is a time to honor Ancestors.
those who fought for the lives we live today,
those who gave us life, hope, purpose…
and those whose traumas we can transform into opportunities and acts of agency in service to the gift of life.
“Astronomy compels the soul to look upwards and leads us from a world to another”
« « L’astronomie contraint l’âme à regarder vers le haut et nous conduit de ce monde vers un autre. »
Platon in La République (Livre VII, verset 529d/529e)
Reflecting on our ancestors means questioning where we come from — dust of the universe & the universe within us.
Remembering is an act of sovereignty.
As I’ve shared before, honoring cultural traditions and myths, cultivating knowledge, and upholding the power of storytelling are essential elements of our collective memory in the shared Agora: our Cosmogony.
I invite you to read my Summer reflection on Substack about Memory, the senses, and our relationship to Nature, in an article titled Mnemosyne.
